2nd Annual Abbotsford Food Bank Luncheon – The 2nd Annual Abbotsford Food Bank Luncheon was a tremendous success as over $8,800 and 3,600 lbs of food was donated. 176 people attended the luncheon that was eagerly hosted by the Esposito Group at the Phoenix Restaurant and Lounge. It was a terrific venue and a great lunch.
The Food Bank Luncheon is a collaborative effort amongst local business’s who can do more as a group than on their own. Sport & Spine Physiotherapy and CBI Health have been part of a National Food Drive in the month of May that has seen CBI Health raise over $700,000 and 370,000 lbs of food in the last 7 years across Canada. The local organizing committee also has representatives from Sun Hang Do, You Seminars and the Magnuson Ford Mariners Soccer Club.
It was the heart filled talk by Olympic Skier Kelly VanderBeek that caught the emotion of everyone in attendance as she shared about her success on the hill and challenges to return from injuries and how we should never give up on our dreams. Kelly also took the time to personalize a number of action photos and share a moment with so many attendees!
The organizing committee for the Food Bank Luncheon would like to salute all the community support in helping our neighbours in need.
Next year’s Luncheon is already in the planning stages as the committee looks to reach higher goals and community involvement.
